Who we are

This site is Jet Lag & Jpegs, a personal travel blog sharing stories and photography from around the world. You can find us at: https://jetlagandjpegs.com.

Comments

When you leave a comment on the site, we collect the information you enter into the comment form, along with your IP address and browser details to help detect spam.

If you’re using the Gravatar service, an anonymised version of your email address may be shared with them to display your profile picture next to your comment. You can view Gravatar’s privacy policy here: https://automattic.com/privacy/.

Once your comment is approved, it will be visible to the public along with your name (and Gravatar image, if applicable).

Media

If you upload images to the site (for example, in comments), please avoid including images that contain embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors may be able to download images and extract location details from the metadata.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on the site, you can choose to save your name, email address, and website in cookies. This is just for your convenience, so you don’t have to re-enter your details next time. These cookies last for one year.

If you visit the login page, a temporary cookie is set to check if your browser accepts cookies. It doesn’t contain personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we set a few cookies to save your login details and display preferences. Login cookies last for two days, or two weeks if you select “Remember Me.” Screen option cookies last for a year. Logging out removes the login cookies.

If you edit or publish a post, your browser will store an extra cookie that includes the post ID of the article you edited. It doesn’t contain personal data and expires after one day.

Embedded content from other websites

Some posts and pages on this site may include embedded content — like videos, images, or articles from other websites.

Embedded content behaves just like it would if you visited the original site. That means those sites may collect data about you, use cookies, and include third-party tracking. If you have an account and are logged in to one of those services, they may also track your interaction with the embedded content.

Who we share your data with

If you request a password reset, your IP address may be included in the reset email.

If you subscribe to email updates, your email address is stored securely on this website and used only for sending newsletters or post notifications. Email delivery is handled through Resend, a trusted third-party email provider. We do not share your personal data with anyone else.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are stored indefinitely. This helps us recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically, rather than holding them for moderation.

If you subscribe to our newsletter, your email address is retained for as long as you remain subscribed. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send.

What rights you have over your data

If you’ve left comments or subscribed to email updates, you can request an export of the personal data we hold about you. You can also ask us to delete that data at any time.

This doesn’t include any data we’re required to keep for administrative, legal, or security reasons.

Where your data is sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. If you subscribe to email updates, your data is securely processed and delivered through Resend, our email service provider.
